The lovely folks over at BlogHer read my iPhoneography post from last week and liked it enough to put it on their homepage! I know, right?! Crazytown. The post is also featured in their BlogHer Tech section as a spotlighted post. Ch-ch-check it out!

Thanks to BlogHer for their support and to all of you for reading. You rule. Mwah!

[Ed Note: Yeah, I noticed they used some random pic of someone else under my post…which is strange since the post was on photography and had a ton of photos to choose from, but whatever, I’m going to let it slide, just this once.]

Happy Weekend!

happy_weekend_june

Well, looky there. It’s Friday! I’m spending my Friday getting ready for the big wedding of Trent’s sister tomorrow, and I couldn’t be happier. I really lucked out in the in-law department and I’m so excited to be a part of what is sure to be a fabulous day.

Here are a few things around the web that made me happy this week:

This Outstanding in the Field Dinner looks insane. Check out that table! I need to figure out how to throw one of these in KC…

How cute does the Sarah James Show look? Can’t wait for this new series!

After being in New York and finally seeing a Broadway show, this video was really intriguing to me. How do moms handle being on Broadway and being a parent? This lady is a superwoman.

OK, nerd alert! The Star Wars board on the Cool Mom Picks Pinterest is amazing.

Time released never before seen color photos of D-Day on the anniversary of the epic battle.

Go Fug Yourself is covering the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and there is a lot of Prince Harry. This is a very good thing.

Instagrams? Well, ok, but only because you asked nicely!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

happy_weekend_5-25

It’s the weekend! Hooray! And a holiday weekend to boot. Trent and I are headed off on our first trip together sans children in six years. No, I am not kidding. We are going to one of my favorite places in the world, New York City! I am so excited, although lately it has seemed like the universe doesn’t want me to go. This week alone we’ve had one case of extremely contagious hand, foot and mouth disease, one power outage, one babysitter who cancelled, and one trip to urgent care. OK, universe, I get it! But I will not accept it. NYC, here I come!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Here are some links to keep you company, followed by some of this week’s Instagram pics (you can follow me over there at crazy_bananas):

DIY cake toppers made out of pipe cleaners…this is about as crafty as I can handle right now, and I think they’d be pretty perfect for Lu’s birthday (which is in a week omigod!).

Maggie’s article on 5 Ways to Discover New Music is perfect for anyone who tends to veer off the mainstream path (other than the occasional catchy pop song or B. Spears of course).

Speaking of good new music, these two 14-year-old Kansas City girls covered Foster the People’s Helena Beat and just blew my mind. I want them to come babysit for my kids so they can learn how to be awesome. (via Afentra)

It’s the Weekend and I Need a Nap!

happy_weekend

Last night I climbed into bed after hosting a gaggle of lady friends for supper club at our house and I just wanted to sleep for a few days. Months. Years. It’s been that kind of week. Mother’s Day and crazy work deadlines and graduation and dinner parties and my brain is on empty. But, as it is with mothers and fathers and caregiver type people, there is no long nap in sight. After the dishes were washed, there were still gym bags to be packed and papers to sign for school and diaper bags to organize for another long day. Tonight we are going to the opening of the Fairy exhibit at Powell Garden and at some point this weekend my parents will be coming to town. Oh nap, I don’t even know you and I miss you.

That’s how it always is though. When my life is full of good things it’s overflowing and I struggle to handle it all. I’m either sitting around on a Friday with no plans for the next two weeks or I’m trying to remember if I ate breakfast this morning (sidenote: I didn’t. I’m crabby.) because I’m so swamped I can barely recall my own name.

Just in case you have some free time this weekend (you lucky dog, you) here are some things I’m loving all around the Internet:

– Have you seen the new video series from Design Mom called “Olive Us.” It’s adorable. I’m done having kids, but the Blair Family makes me think I could totally handle six of them. (OMGnowI’mhavingapanicattackahhhhh!)

Life Design 101. Yup, exactly.

– If you have kids, you should have a Dallas Clayton book in the house. (We have the Awesome Book and love it!) And even if you don’t have kids, you should follow him on Twitter because he’ll make you smile when you feel stabby. Not that I’m feeling stabby. Ahem.

– This post on instant photography literally had me texting my parents to see if they still had their old Polaroid. Which they do! And I get it! Hooray! (Crap, Polaroid film is expensive…do I really need that second kidney?)

– This post on motherhood from Lane made me cry. In a good way. As Lulu, would say, happy tears!

– I’m so excited for Mindy Kaling’s new show next year. It’s like Grey’s Anatomy plus New Girl plus her book that I loved plus sparkles. Win.

Here are some Instagram shots from the past week for your viewing pleasure (I’m crazy_bananas over there if you’re an Instagram fan). Enjoy your weekend, and take a nap for me!
