Guest Banana: Romantic New Years Playlist by Michelle

I’ve asked some Guest Bananas to help me out over this holiday week so I could take a little break from the blog (my first in over a year and a half, yikes!) Today features totally fantastic blogger extraordinaire, Michelle Peters (no relation) from So Wonderful, So Marvelous. Thanks, Michelle!

————————————————–

Why hello there Crazy Bananas peeps!  My name is Michelle and I blog at So Wonderful, So Marvelous.  I met Megan through an online Alt class this summer and was instantly smitten with her blog… well, you’re here, so you know already the depths of her awesomeness.   Turns out we both have Tates the same age, mine is the female variety.  Needless to say, I’ve been hooked ever since and I am THRILLED about her new adventure with Design for Minikind, they are lucky to have her.  This summer Megan and Trent were kind enough to share their marriage thoughts on my blog, so when Megan asked if I’d like to post for you, I jumped at the chance.

My husband and I had a rocky start to our New Year celebrating.  It involved him vacating the contents of his stomach into my sink after too much drinking.  It was not pretty.  After that first highly disastrous celebration, we decided that we would start staying home.  Our tradition has evolved a bit now that we have kids, but it usually involves a fancy dinner, most often fondue, champagne and spending time cuddled up on the couch.  If we make it to New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, we’re lucky.  {Toddlers are early risers!}

I thought I’d use Megan’s space to share with you a great, romantic, stay in for New Year playlist.  Maybe you’ll stay in too?

  • Wicked Way – Ben Taylor
  • You’re What I’m Looking For – Rooney
  • Sort Of – Ingrid Michaelson
  • Collide – Howie Day
  • Fade Into You – Mazzy Star
  • Sweet Thing – Van Morrison
  • Something – The Beatles
  • A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
  • I Will Follow You Into The Dark – Death Cab For Cutie
  • With or Without You – U2

Fall 2012 Playlist

Fall-2012-Playlist

It’s a grey, chilly day around here, so I figured it’s the perfect time to share my newest playlist. Here are some of the songs that are in my headphones this fall, some old and some new. Let’s jam and stay warm together.

The Girls Trip 2012 Playlist

It’s still birthday week here at Crazybananas! In fact, let’s just assume it’s going to be birthday week this entire week, okay? I think that should save us all a bit of time. If you’re a longtime reader of this here weblog, you might remember a few years ago when I went on my first ever girls trip with my best friends to Destin, Florida. It was pretty fantastic, except for the fact that I found out two weeks before I was pregnant with Mr. Tater Tot…which was wonderful! But, oh man, my first ever girls trip and I’m pregnant? Anyone need a designated driver? Womp womp.

Well, this Thursday we are all headed out (on my birthday, squee!!!) for the second annual girls trip, this time in fabulous Las Vegas. There shall be debauchery. Oh, will there ever be debauchery.

(Hilarious sidenote: We were posting about said trip on Facebook and one of our wonderful mom’s pointed out that we were going to be so cute, running around Vegas in our sparkliest outfits…and that’s when we realized any guy that hits on us will be bombarded by photos of our nine (NINE!) children. Talk about a buzzkill…)

In honor of our upcoming trip, I’ve been posting songs to the Crazybananas Facebook page that make up our “Girls Trip Soundtrack” and I thought it would be a good idea to post the entire enchilada right here, for your listening entertainment. Let’s party!!!

(P.S. Some of the songs are not suitable for work, so you might want to wear headphones. They are, however, very suitable for getting drunk with your best friends whilst wearing an abundance of sequins.)

Finally, the Girl Power Pop Playlist

Lulu-Playlist

A few weeks ago I posted about how I was struggling to find music on the radio that Lucy and I would agree on. Mostly this is due to her love of pop music and my hatred of all the skanky lyrics on the radio these days (and get off my lawn!). As I said earlier, most pop music doesn’t sound that bad, until you hear a six-year-old singing the words. Then you’ll probably want to buy some permanent earmuffs.

After asking some awesome people over on the Crazybananas Facebook page for advice, I put together this Lucy approved playlist of current and past pop/rock hits, all sung by girls (a must for Miss Lu) that won’t leave you feeling icky when you hear a first grader singing along. There are some fun oldies on here from The Go-Go’s, ABBA, Miss Jackson and No Doubt, along with some current pop hits that were Lulu’s special request. Let’s party!
