Who Says I’m Totally Random?

Last week I was on the phone with a good friend and when I mentioned how frazzled I’d been lately, she stated “Yeah, I was wondering. Your posts on Crazybananas have been all over the place lately.” Well, harumph! I’ll prove you wrong, missy!

The theme of this Monday’s post is What I Did on Sunday. See, themed! Totally not random!

First I decided that I wanted to make treats for all of our new neighbors. Since we moved here during the crappiest time of year (today it was NINE degrees when I left the house, NINE DEGREES) we don’t see much of anyone on our street. By the time we get home from work in the evening, it’s dark and I’m crabby, so we hibernate. Weekends have been alternately packed with family stuff and work stuff, so other than a few waves and hellos yelled across the street, we haven’t had much contact with anyone living near us. So I decided to continue my tradition from our old house and make holiday treats for our neighbors to deliver with Lucy.

Cookies

Look homemade cookies!

Kitchen Before

Here is a shot of my fabulous kitchen. Everyone has been asking me for new pictures of the house, so for those of you who care, here it is. The arrows are pointing to some household staples like a.) Open drawers full of crap, b.) Open beer bottles, c.) Stacks of dirty towels, d.) Packages of baby wipes [opened of course], and e.) Wrapper from Costco-sized tube of cookie dough.

Wait, scratch that last one. The cookies were totally homemade, I swear!

Kitchen After

Here is the picture I took of my kitchen after I looked at the first one and realized how gross it was. This is what my kitchen actually looks like on a daily basis.

Speaking of my kitchen, it’s the only part of our new house that is somewhat finished. We’re still missing some things (like curtains), but at least we have a place to eat, right? This is my favorite part of the house so far, the family wall.

Orange Family Wall

Also, Santa, I’d like a new flash for my camera. Mine sucks. Yours, Megan.

Living Room

This is our living room. There is a matress in it. The dogs sleeps on it. We are high class.

Red Clock

This is a clock my friend Inger got me from IKEA because she is totally awesome. I love it. It opens to give you storage for keys, wallets and all of the other random crap I can never find. Now if only I had time to hang it.

Reindeer Treats

This is where we keep our reindeer treats. What are reindeer treats, you ask?

Treats for the Adult Reindeer

Why, Bailey’s and hot chocolate mix, of course! Drunk reindeer are the best!

Hmmm…what else have I been up to? I made these books.

Peters Reunion Blurb Book

They are photo books that I compiled with all of our family’s photos from the Peters Family Reunion this past August. It took FOREVER to put together, but they are great Christmas gifts for everyone.

My Favorite Photo Part 2

My favorite photo has to be a tie between the one above of the boys watching their dad play pinball, and the one below.

My Favorite Picture Part 1

Dorks. [Both photos by Product E.]

This is the extent of my Christmas decorations. It’s all I had the energy to do. And yes, that is the same fake tree that belonged to my friend in college. I didn’t have time to get a new one. Lame, I know. Especially since I use that excuse every year.

Also, any ideas on colors for these walls? I’m stumped, but I hate the beige.

Decorations

I think the decorations look better like this, don’t you?

Abstract Tree

As long as I’m being totally not random, have I mentioned how much I love this measuring spoon? It’s like four measuring spoons in one. Which means I only have to clean one item instead of four. Yipee!

My Favorite Measuring Spoon

And finally, here are the cookies for my neighbors, all wrapped up and ready to go.

Cookie Boxes for Neighbors

See, the most totally not random post ever! Now I’m off to eat some cookies. God knows I need more sugar.

A Monday Vignette

I’m feeling a little out of sorts today…a little crazy, a little nerdy, quite a bit sleepy. In fact, I’m probably all seven of Snow White’s dwarfs smushed up into one blond maniac. So today’s post is going to reflect the insanity of my daily life. And my ADD problem.

————————————————————————-

Today on the way to school, Lucy picked another favorite song. She thought it was jingle bells, but it was really this. Again, my daughter is so much cooler than me, it’s ridiculous. I should send her to all of my Christmas parties as my liason. They’d like her better anyway.

————————————————————————-

It’s only 11 a.m. and I’ve already had three meetings today that made me want to bang my head against a wall. Slowly.

————————————————————————-

On Saturday, the guy and I attended this Christmas party that was “The Newlywed Game” themed. Yes, I attended a themed party. And I played along quite nicely, I must say. Trent was very impressed that I didn’t smack the hostmaster guy upside the head. The best part of the evening, BY FAR, was when they interviewed our friends Heath and Mikayla, and somehow Mikayla morphed into a version of me. That girl was on fire! A sarcasm sandwich! It was great to watch. Especially when she called the announcer old and told him that he wasn’t invited to their wedding. I love it when the nice girls get bitchy! Makes me feel so much better about my own grinch-ness.

Besties

Is it Christmas yet? Because I miss these people!

Do you have Photoshop, but don’t want to pay for actions to make your pictures pop (check out that alliteration AND rhyming skills, yeah)? Then go here, right now, for a GREAT set FREE of actions that I wiggity-wuv. You won’t regreat it. At least, not as much as I regret saying wiggity-wuv.

I’m in the midst of a heartfelt review of the Twilight movie, but I think it should be saved for Nerd Herd Thursday. So here is this to tide you over. You’re welcome.

————————————————————————-

Speaking of Twilight, have I mentioned how much I’m in love with Paramore right now. I love them. Hayley Williams is totally the girl in my high school that I wanted to be, but could never get the guts up to talk to. I spent most of Friday night drinking wine, folding laundry and head banging/dancing/lip synching to Paramore’s RIOT! album, and I swear to God, I woke up with massive neck pain the next day. The headbanging was out. of. control.

Dear Hayley Williams,

Hayley Williams

Please be my friend. I am cooler than I appear at first glance. And also, I want your hair. And could you be any cuter when you interview Rob Pattison from Twilight? I don’t think so. It’s an impossibility.

Your loyal stalker fan,
Megan

The end. Happy Monday!

Jealous?

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting one adorable little girl. Little Miss Brooke Layne is the baby girl of my friend Hayley, and HOLY COW, this kid is so cute. Hayley asked me to take some newborn photos and I was happy to oblige. Get ready for your heart to explode. Ready? Here we go…

Brooke

Told ya.

Baby Foot

How’s that heart holding up?

Hat is a bit too big!

The cuteness is totally overwhelming.

Brooke's Hand

Rock fist!

Thumbsucker? I like it:)

She’s already rooting around for her thumb…reminds me of another newborn I once knew (ahem, Miss Lu). Hayley said she’s going to try to get her to take a pacifier so she won’t be a thumbsucker. I said “HAHAHAHAHA!” and good luck.

Superbaby!!!

This one is my favorite…SUPERBABY!

OK, now go look at something very non-cute to regulate your system. Maybe pictures of that ugly hairless dog. Or go watch Saw Part Zillion. I’ll be busy begging Trent for another baby.

Model Behavior

Check out this little cutie.

Noah

This would be Noah, one of the first kids I ever took a photo of besides Lu. Last year, he looked like this:

Gah, so fat and chubby and yummy! Now Noah, like Lucy before him, is all grown up. Well, grown up enough to look way too much like a kid instead of a baby and to make me get all emotional. Also, what’s with the crooked photography? I used to think this was artsy…I think. Anyway, Noah’s wonderful mom asked me to take some two-year photos of big boy Noah, and the kid did such a good job. He was so happy, even though it was way too hot for the end of September, his eye hurt and a giant parade downtown threw off some of our location plans.

Full of Energy

Noah’s mom is pregnant with her second little kiddo, and looking at these photos totally makes my ovaries hurt. What was that? Yes, I think that was the sound of Trent heading for Canada.

Where Wine and JPGs Intersect

After four long weeks traveling around the Midwest, celebrating birthdays, anniversarys and government holidays, the Peters family finally was able to sit on our collective asses in Kansas City this past weekend. As if the universe knew how much our asses needed the break, the temperatures dropped and the rain took over, giving us two days of movie watching, bed residing glory. And holy crap, we sure did need it.

Saturday night I took my glass bottle of wine down to our creepy, damp basement and finally finished uploading the pictures from our family reunion in Colorado. I know I’ve already posted some of these, but there are a ton more that have been added. You can view them below or by clicking here.

I figured as long as I was already locked in the dungeon, I may as well go ahead and upload all the photos from our Labor Day weekend at my parents’ cabin in Council Grove, Kansas. My sister and her family joined us on this mini-vacation, which mostly consisted of my daughter doing everything my niece did and following her around like a puppy, giving me the opportunity to read magazines and drink lots of beer.

Is it weird that everytime my daughter has seen my husband or I with a drink in the last week she’s said, “Your beer?” Maybe we’ve been on vacation a bit too long.
