On this creative journey I’ve met quite a few talented and amazing people. I’m so lucky I can now call some of these awesome humans my friends. Christina Gepner of Soul Studios and I actually went to high school together, but a few years ago we reconnected over our love of photography. She shot our family photos last year, and I was so thrilled with how they turned out. She was able to capture the “real” us, something that sounds easy, but is actually quite challenging!
This past summer Christina and I started hatching plans for some fall shoots, and she mentioned that she really wanted something simple that showcased her beautiful family, just as they are. We decided to do a little lifestyle session around the theme of a family picnic. With three kids aged 3-years-old and younger, I knew the session would be a bit chaotic and a lot of fun! Along with still images, we decided to capture some video as well, and I am so excited to share it with all of you! One of my goals for 2016 is to offer more video options with my sessions, and doing work like this gets me all giddy for the work that’s yet to come!
Thank you, Gepner Family, for trusting me to capture your beautiful crew, just as you are.

Happy October, friends! Yes, it was October a week ago, but better late than never, right? This is by far my favorite month, and this year is doubly fun because it’s also my busiest month. While I’ve often done a few photography sessions in the fall, this is the first year where I’m really booking a ton of shoots…and it’s so awesome! Yes, I’m overwhelmed. Yes, I’m very tired. Yes, I am working more than I probably should. But right now, it feels good! There is such a difference between a busy schedule when you’re doing something you love versus when you’re slogging through a job you can’t stand.
For now, I’m giving myself a pass on being perfect, and just trying to do my best. I’ve said no to some things so that I can say yes to others. I’m giving myself breaks when needed. I’m lighting candles that smell like pumpkins, and editing late in to the night. It’s glorious, you guys. It feels new and fun and I’m soaking in every minute. I’m sure the day will come when I’m not as enthused about this October schedule, but today, it feels pretty darn awesome.
I am so fortunate to have clients who hire me year after year. It’s so incredibly fun to look back on images from the past and see how much their families have grown and changed. The members of the Odle Family have always been wonderful supporters of Crazy Bananas Creative Studio, even before the “studio” was official! I have always loved photographing Keegan and Lane with their beautiful daughter, Ellie. I’ve been taking photos of Ellie since she was a baby, so it’s super cool to see her so grown up! It’s hard to believe she’s already three-years-old. She had a ton of energy, and is quite fast, so we might be witnessing a future track star! We decided to go with it, and I’m so glad, because some of my favorite images are of Ellie running around her backyard. There is just something about childhood that makes me think of running without abandon and dancing in freshly cut grass. Thanks to the Odle Family for having me and letting me be a witness to your silly, fun, entertaining life!
