Last night was the culmination of my birthday extravaganza. Except, of course, for this weekend when I will go out my girls and get wasted in celebration of being an old fart. Last night Trent took me to see Coldplay in concert. It was fantastic! One of the best stage shows I’ve seen in years, and extremely exciting considering what a chill band Coldplay is. It always makes me feel like less of a hick when bands that are not only zillionaires, but creative and foreign, make it to Kansas. Even when they really aren’t sure where they are and sing improv lyrics about their confusion. I really don’t expect much, which makes me easy to please.
Now I am tired and crabby, but at least I had a great birthday. Thanks to everyone who made it special. Even my drug-addicted younger brother, who can barely remember his own phone number, called AND said happy 23rd! He actually knew how old I was! Incredible.
I think this is going to be a good year. And if not, I’ve already mentioned my pension for low expectations…

Last night, as I celebrated my last night as a spry 22-year-old with some wine and the new Fox fall programming, I once again. Saw. Henry. Winkler. The Fonz. On TWO FUCKING SHOWS!!!
That is, like, 6 shows in 2 days! What the hell is going on. It’s the second coming of the Fonz. It’s like he’s haunting me. First, he’s a murder suspect, then he’s a divorced doctor with a family of doctors, then he’s dressed up like the guys from Blue Man Group with one of those wig-like things that make you look bald…DOES IT EVER END?
Signs of the apocolypse:
1. Nuclear war becomes iminent.
2. Holy wars are being fought on almost all continents.
3. Henry Winkler returns with avengence to prime time.
We want Heath!!!
