Happy Friday, everyone! This was my first full week at my new job(s) and it went fairly well. I can be a bit of a pessimist, so I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth everything was. I’m sure I will regret that sentence the minute I hit “publish” on this post, but for now, I’m going with it. Here are a few fun links from around the web to get you through this weekend:
An actual astronaut, in space, tweeting about Star Trek? Rad. The stars of the show replying to him on Twitter and the meme that followed? The best thing on the web. Ever.
The Golden Globes are this weekend! Sarah came up with a couple lazy hair styles that will make you feel like a movie star too.
I love The Reconstructionists! Every morning they post an illustration of a trailblazing woman, along with a hand-lettered quote that captures her spirit and a short micro-essay about her life and legacy. So amazing!
Friendship bracelet temporary tattoos. Lu has requested five of these.
I have decided to try a new photo series around here as a way to force myself to pick up my real camera and catch snippets of my day. I have become so reliant on my iPhone for images, I thought this might be a fun way to get back in to the real deal. I’m calling the series 7 x 7, as it will feature seven photos, one for every day of the week. This week’s is a little out of sorts, since I decided to do this about halfway through and so I had to supplement using a couple iPhone photos. Never again! (OK, I will probably do this again…let’s cut me some slack here.) Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little glimpse in to our week!
being at home more means more dishes in the sink // lu and i bought fancy new shoelaces for our sneakers, i’m hoping it will get me excited about running again // my living room on it’s last day in it’s holiday finery // replacing holiday photos and pine needles with old school images and fresh flowers // teaching lu to play chess // lu and i cutting out images for our 2013 goal collages…her goal is apparently to acquire as many american girl dolls as possible // mr. eyelashes and me enjoying a warm winter afternoon outside

A few months back, when I realized I was going to have some upcoming projects that would put me in the spotlight more than in the past, I realized I needed to get some blogging headshots. I am one of the rare bloggers who doesn’t have a husband or best friend on standby to take photos of my outfits or projects, so most of the posts on this site have featured photos of people other than myself (unless they are self-taken Instagram photos, which are horrible and wonderful all at the same time). I wanted to have a few photos on file that I could use for upcoming posts, projects and in the major (upcoming!) redesign of this site. Enter my high school friend, Christina Gepner, who graciously offered to help me out! You have probably seen a few of these photos sprinkled throughout posts, but I wanted to share a few favorites here, and also give a huge shout out to Christina, who is pretty much amazing. Thank you, Christina!
Christina also has a fab Etsy shop where she creates hand rolled streamers, called Extravagant Exits. If you have a party, wedding or big event coming up, you want to check her out!
Happy Weekend!

An orchestra of slum children creating music out of other people’s trash. Beauty is real.
A graphic artist took Van Gogh’s self portrait and made it in to a photograph. The result is astounding.
This video of the Northern Lights has me looking up.
I adore Andrea’s round up of stories that changed her life in 2012.
New Justin Timberlake album! I repeat, NEW JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE ALBUM!!!
